Welcome to the Survey on Generative AI and Open Source Software Development!

A collaboration among Red Hat, Futurewei, OpenSSF, and LF AI & Data.

GOALS:
This survey explores how generative AI technologies are transforming open source software (OSS) development. We aim to document the mechanisms driving these dynamics while identifying the unique challenges and opportunities emerging within OSS communities. Your input will provide critical empirical evidence and novel insights into how generative AI is reshaping collaboration patterns.

INSTRUCTIONS:
  • Target audience: OSS contributor and/or maintainer who may or may not use generative AI for OSS development
  • Time required: About 15 to 20 minutes
  • Language: Survey language options can be found at the top right corner of the page

VISIBILITY:
We will summarize the survey data and findings in a report that will be published on the Linux Foundation website. The dataset for this survey and instructions for its use will be posted and made publicly available in the Linux Foundation's section of Data.World.
